Filosofi mata kuliah ini, setiap peralatan memiliki sistem operasi untuk menjalankannya, baik itu hard ware mau pun soft ware. Berikut ini Garis-garis Besar Program Pengajaran selama 16 pertemuan.
P1 –> Introduksi: GBPP, SAP, pengaturan kelas, kelompok, regu, tim, pengorganisasian proyek pengajaran, penelitian, dan pengabdian.
P2 –> Traditional operating System: processes, memory management, file systems, input /output, deadlocks, case study.
P3 –> Overview: perkembangan sistem operasi, operating system structures.
P4 –> Distributed operating systems: communication, synchronization, processes and processors, distributed file systems, case study.
P5 –> Process management: processes, threads, CPU scheduling, process synchronization, deadlocks.
P6 –> Memory management: main memory, virtual memory.
P7 –> Storage memory: file system interface, file system implementation, mass storage structure, I/O systems.
P8 –> UJIAN TENGAH SEMESTER
P9 –> Protection & security: (goal, principles, domain) of protection, access matrix (implementation), access control, revocation of acces rights, capability-based systems, language-based protection, the security problem, (program, system & network) threats, cryptography as security tool, user authentication, implementing security defenses, firewalling to protect systems & networks, computer security classifications.
P10 –> Distributed systems: structures, file systems, coordination.
P11 –> Special purpose systems: real-time systems, multimedia systems.
P12 –> Case studies: the Linux system, Windows XP, influential operating systems, Unix BSD, the Mach system, Windows 2000.
