Previously, from 2004-2005, he had been a student in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fateta.unand.ac.id\/\">The Department of Agricultural Engineering<\/a> (at that time, it was still a department; but\u00a0recently has become a faculty),\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/fateta.unand.ac.id\/\">the Faculty of Agriculture<\/a>, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unand.ac.id\/\">Universitas Andalas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sulistyo is currently an Assistant Professor\u00a0in <a href=\"http:\/\/hi.fisip.unila.ac.id\/\">the Department of International Relations<\/a> at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unila.ac.id\/en\/\">Universitas Lampung<\/a>, Indonesia. He is also one of the members of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kike.or.id\/\">the Indonesian Community for European Studies (ICES)<\/a>. Prior to that, he started his academic career as a young lecturer at <a href=\"https:\/\/unespadang.ac.id\/\">Universitas Ekasakti<\/a>\u00a0(2013-15), Padang, in the Department of Government, teaching <i>Introduction to Government<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Demography and Environment<\/i>; and also in the Department of Public Administration, teaching\u00a0<i>Planning<\/i>. He also taught in the <a href=\"http:\/\/hi.fisip.unand.ac.id\/\">Department of International Relations<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unand.ac.id\/id\/\">Andalas University<\/a> (2014-15), teaching <i>International Relations in Southeast Asia<\/i>, <em>Global Governance,<\/em>\u00a0<i>International Relations in East Asia<\/i>, <i>Security and Strategic Studies<\/i>, and <i>Transnational Crime and Terrorism<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>His research concentrates on <i>International\/Global Security<\/i>, <i>Transnational Crimes<\/i> in the broadest spectrum, <em>White-Collar Crimes<\/em>, <i>International Crimes<\/i>, <em>International Relations in Europe,<\/em>\u00a0<i>Democracy and Human Rights<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Defense Policy<\/i>, and\u00a0<i>the Military Role<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Sulistyo\u2019s areas of teaching are <em>International\/Global Security<\/em>, <em>Strategic Studies<\/em>, <em>Diplomacy, Global-Local Security Studies<\/em>, <em>Defence and Security Diplomacy, Introduction to Law, Introduction to Political Science, <\/em>and <em>International Law<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Sulistyo is a fellow\/researcher at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dosen.unila.ac.id\/iwansulistyo\/about-acitcs\/\">Academic Community for International and Transnational Crime Studies (ACITCS)<\/a>, <\/strong>a non-profit and independent think tank that focuses on three main activities: <em><strong>internal courses<\/strong> <\/em>on international crime, democracy &amp; human rights, and transnational crime; <em><strong>research<\/strong><\/em>; and regular panel <strong>academic discussions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Sulistyo participated<i>\u00a0at<\/i>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.whrcf.org\/\"><i>The 9th World Human Rights Cities Forum 2019<\/i><\/a>\u00a0in Gwangju, The Republic of Korea, presenting a full paper on\u00a0how the local government plays its role in adopting SDGs as a global agenda and fulfilling human rights. Together with his students, he also joined <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whrcf.org\/\"><i>the 11th World Human Rights Cities Forum 2021<\/i><\/a><i>\u00a0<\/i>performing their full paper on trust building and the roles of local religious leaders\u00a0in countering covid-19 pandemic within society.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, he is the chairman of the organizing committee of \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ulicoss.unila.ac.id\/\"><i>The 2nd Universitas Lampung International Conference on Social Sciences (ULICoSS)<\/i><\/a>; and has actively involved in organizing an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/iicis.fisip.unila.ac.id\/\">\u201cInternational Indonesia Conference on Interdisciplinary Studies\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in 2018 and also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unila.ac.id\/en\/2019\/06\/unila-joint-summer-school-with-croatia\/\">Summer School between the University of Lampung and Zagreb University Croatia<\/a>\u00a0titled \u201cThe Wellspring of Academic Spirit: Digital Data and Security on the Sustainable Development Era\u201d in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>From July to September 2009, Sulistyo had been a technical assistant in a research on people smuggling led by Prof. Adrianus Meliala, a prominent criminologist in Indonesia. The project eventually produced a \u201cGuide Book for the Officers in Handling the People Smuggling Activities and Criminal Offense related to People Smuggling\u201d.
